Centuries have come and gone but beauty like her never seen again, A true heart-breaking epic love tale of Rani Roopmati and King Baaz Bahadur

A true Heart-Breaking epic love tale of Rani Roopmati

That time, that beauty! if once someone sees it, he kept watching it, doesn't matter how many centuries have come or gone but even today also, if anyone mentions her name, that same words Utter from the mouth. "What a beauty she was!". Apart from being drop-dead gorgeous, she was also a prodigious singer. But today, as much as People know Queen Roopmati for her beauty and singing more than that people know her for her true loyalty and love to the king Baaz Bahadur of Mandu. The kingdom of Mandu was not very enormous, it was the kingdom that lies somewhere in the present Madhya Pradesh state of India but that time its popularity, beauty, and the echo of love for music reached Delhi and to Emperor Akbar.

This is not just a love story, this is the story of loyalty, a true promise, sacrifice, and dedication. It is not just a love story but an epic love of King Baaz Bahadur and Queen Roopmati. The story depicts the perfect example of how the love of music brings a King and a singer closer to each other. On one hand, where Baaz Bahadur was turning the flow of the river for Roopmati on the other hand Mughals were knocking out war outside the four walls of Mandu.

She was an enormous singer because we find her stanzas, her magnificent poems that she had written in Malwai language. History says that Akbar always had an eye on Mandu, He did not want such big power to be in central India but the story here does not consider it to be a political decision. They connect this attack to Roopmati's beauty, maybe history also gets color from this love story.

Is the beauty of Roopmati was the only reason for the attack? or was there any other reason also? There were many reasons for the attack on Mandu but Roopmati's beauty and singing had reached Delhi. Musician Mankha had talked about Roopmati's beauty in his singing which Akbar had heard. The main drawback of Emperor Akbar was his love for beautiful women. You must be surprised to know that there were 5000 women in her Haram (a place where the queens and other women of the emperor lived). Akbar had sent a proposal that he wanted to hear Roopmati's singing live. When Baaz Bahadur got this proposal, he refused it and said that 'it is not possible'. Then Akbar kept the condition that Baaz Bahadur surrender and come to his court and he would make him Mansabdar. Baaz Bahadur very well knew that Akbar likes Roopmati, so he refused to accept the invitation. After then, Akbar sent Adham Khan by putting false charges on Baaz Bahadur. Adham Khan attacked Mandu.

Here a personal egoistic reason had been used for political annexure. The ministers of Akbar was also started acknowledging that the emperor is more interested in Roopmati than the kingdom. Roopmati and Baaz Bahadur extended their love through poems, singing, and art. As this happened the kingdom become vulnerable. But was Baaz Bahadur so lost in the love of Roopmati that he was ignoring the attack by Mughals? Did Adham Khan attack here because of Baaz Bahadur's weakness? It might be possible...they might have got the kingdom because spies played a very important role in the kingdom for long. It could easily be known that what was the weakness of any kingdom had and then that weakness was attacked.

The history of Mandu changed with that attack of Akbar. Baaz Bahadur had separated himself from the battlefield but he had no option but to fight. Baaz Bahadur who was lost in music had now to face the truth of this battle. When Akbar sent his cousin Adham Khan to bring Baaz Bahadur and Roopmati to his court and when Adham Khan came to know about Roopmati's beauty, he planned to kill Baaz Bahadur and marrying Roopmati. In the battlefield, Baaz Bahadur continuously fought but still lost the battle because in the opposite army there were more than 10,000 soldiers and 40,000 horses, when such a big army attacked Baaz Bahadur could not deal with it. He lost the battle & killed.

Roopmati was left behind in Mandu. Adham Khan had heard about the beauty of Roopmati so he wanted to get her. The clear thing was that Adham Khan wanted her to be a part of his haram. He wanted her body, he had no respect for her singing, art, and her love for them. Adham really tried that she surrender, but when he saw that he could not win then he started torturing the people of Mandu. Queen Roopmati thought that some solution had to be found. It is written in the history that she gave this information to Adham Khan that she was ready to surrender. She sent the information that she wanted three days and then she would do whatever he wanted.

On the third day, she got up and took a bath. she wore those beautiful clothes that Baaz Bahadur gifted her, adorned a lot of jewelry and makeup. This is the story of Roopmati's dedication and love for Baaz Bahadur. When she came to know that Baaz Bahadur had died and Adham Khan has won Mandu and forcefully he will marry her. So to save herself, she committed suicide by eating powder of Diamond.

History is written by those who are victorious, but no victorious person raised a question on Roopmati's love and loyalty. In every story and every version, Roopmati only loved Baz Bahadur and her loyalty was only for him.
The separation of Baaz Bahadur and Roopmati refects the love, loyalty, and fineness of their love. The songs which were sung by Baaz Bahadur and Roopmati are still echoing in the ruin Mandu fort.
